Dear HR,
Dear Mr. Pro Data Safety,
Thank you for the question. When COVID-19 first ascended, companies had to take precautions in regards to cybersecurity and data privacy risks. There are two things that cyberthieves are doing to steal data from other organizations. First, these cyberthieves were creating and sending out phishing campaigns, which are fraudulent messages that appear to originate from a reputable source, that tried to lure these email recipients into clicking on their malevolent links that seem like actual information put forth by public health officials and various news stations about the increasing COVID-19 risks. Second, as institutions integrated remote work as a part of their COVID-19 response, cyberthieves had more opportunities to invade a company’s data as those employees may be taking on unsecured WiFi networks, managing confidential information outside of safe channels, depending on mobile phones for remote work, and not abiding by their employer’s rules and regulations that practice security.
With both of these two opportunities for cyberthieves to take advantage of, the likelihood of cybersecurity and privacy occurrences increased. Want to know how to tackle these situations and minimize the risks?
